In Goreme, you’ll learn about Cappadocia’s history and wonder at the fairy chimneys. Free time for photography.

After a 40-minute trip, you reach the Underground City, first utilized as a natural deep freeze and then as a Roman refuge against Arabian raids. Explore with your guide for one hour.

52 miles from the Underground City is Ihlara Canyon, a 45-minute trip. The 14-kilometer, 80-meter-deep canyon was formed by volcanic activity and erosion. Hike 3.5 km in 1 hour and 15 minutes to discover the area’s Christian history and magnificently carved and painted churches. Lunch at a riverfront restaurant includes soup, salad, main courses, and seasonal fruits.

The journey continues at Selime Monastery, a castle-like complex with shelters, churches, chapels, bedrooms, storage, and a great cathedral. Cappadocia monastic life.

Rest on the journey to Pigeon Valley, where your guide will highlight Anatolian customs. Upon arrival, see how Cappadocian inhabitants used pigeon eggs and droppings. Before leaving, admire the pigeon houses.
